The 2005 DuBrul Vineyard Reserve comes from a superb site planted in 1992 by Dr. Hugh Shiels in what is now known as the Rattlesnake Hills AVA. The wine is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc. It was aged in 67% new French oak for 22 months. It offers up notes of cedar, tobacco, spice box, and black currant. It has layers of fruit, complex flavors, excellent depth and richness, and 5-7 years of aging potential. It will be at its best from 2012 to 2025. Ron Coleman’s Tamarack Cellars produces a portfolio of easygoing, fairly priced wines that can best be described as middle of the road. They will not excite nor will they disappoint. The two Reserve wines are a different story, outstanding wines as well as fairly priced.Tel. (509) 526-3533; www.tamarackcellars.com
