As usual since 2011, the wine is dominated by Grenache, from vines planted in 1934 and 1943. Shiraz and Graciano from younger vines (planted 1998–2001) comprise 10–20% of the blend. The 2018 Eclipse features lovely herbal inflections and hints of apricot/stone fruit layered over ripe cherries. This open-knit, full-bodied effort adds hints of dark chocolate on the palate. Silky, long and delicious, with a softly dusty finish, it should drink well for another 10–15 years.
