Also fresh, lively and quaffable, the 2012 Viognier (incorporates 5% Roussanne) has ripe golden fruits, caramelized citrus and hints of marzipan to go with a medium-bodied, clean and refreshing feel on the palate. Aged 10 months in neutral French oak, it’s another delicious white to drink over the coming year or so.
I was slightly disappointed in these new releases by winemaker Larry Schaffer. I’ve liked these wines more in the past, but found the 2010s to be good, yet mid-weight and superficial efforts.
