My favorite of this trio is the 2009 Cote Rotie La Sarrasine, which possesses greater ripeness as well as more raspberry, black cherry, licorice and tapenade characteristics. Medium-bodied with impressive texture as well as restrained, well-integrated oak, it should drink nicely for a decade.
Aside from a straightforward, one-dimensional Condrieu, this estate, owned by Guigal, is making better balanced, more interesting wines than they were a decade ago. The 2009 Cote Roties have just been released by Bonserine. (Most Guigal wines are released later into the marketplace because of more extended upbringings/elevages.)
