Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes has a more austere bouquet compared to its peers, but it is nonetheless well defined and focused with engaging mineral notes coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, vibrant and effervescent with orange zest, lime and melon, building in the mouth toward a precise finish. This deserves polite applause.
