The 2012 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard, made from the Old Wente clone of Chardonnay, sees slightly more new oak at 40%. It offers notes of white popcorn, honeysuckle, stone fruits and a hint of peach. The wood component is virtually obscured by the wine’s fruit and body. This attractive, pure Chardonnay possesses good acidity and medium to full body. Enjoy it over the next 4-5 years.
All of Sojourn Cellars’ Chardonnays see about 30% new oak, and tend to have finished alcohols in the 14% to 14.3% range. Sojourn produces a half dozen Pinot Noirs, ranging between 14.2% and 14.6% natural alcohol. Most of them are made from Dijon clones.
