The 2019 Braó was produced with a blend of 88% Cari?ena and 12% Garnacha from very old vines—all over 60 years of age—from 16 plots, all owned, in five different locations in La Serra, Els Guiamets, Mar?à, Masroig and Cornudella. It was fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in new and second use barrels for 12 months. It's creamy, velvety, spicy and smoky, with ripe fruit, good ripeness and 15% alcohol. It's full-bodied and still quite oaky, with fine-grained tannins and a dry finish with a bitter twist. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2021.

The red 2018 Braó is a blend of 90% Cari?ena and 10% Garnacha from very old vines in five different locations in Cap?anes, Mar?à, Els Guiamets and Cornudella, and it matured in new and second use barrels for 12 months. This has more oak, and the ripeness of the fruit feels accentuated by the wood. The fruit is black, and there are some earthy undertones. It's full-bodied and has fine-grained tannins, finishing dry.

The 2014 Braó showed a lot riper than the 2013. It is a well oaked blend of Garnacha and Cari?ena from a dry and warm vintage fermented in stainless steel vats and matured in French oak barrel for 13 months. The fruit is black and there are hints of peat and graphite, while the palate reveals plenty of oak-related flavors and texture. The palate is medium to full-bodied with abundant, slightly dusty tannins. It has moderate acidity. 17,500 bottles produced.

My favorite of the whole collection was the 2013 Braó, which managed to keep poised and balance, even though analytically it's not fresher than the 2014, but on the palate you feel a lot more balance. It has a big structure and fine-grained tannins. 17,500 bottles.

Sourced from a diversity of old vineyards from Montsant, the 2012 Braó is a blend of Garnacha and Cari?ena from a very dry and warm vintage which fermented in stainless steel vats and matured in new and second-use French oak barrel for 13 months. The oak is more noticeable in the texture and the grainy tannins, but the nose is very much fruit-driven with plenty of earthy, indigenous aromas that show character. The palate needs a little polish which should be achieved with some bottle age, but the balance and stuffing is very good and should provide for a positive evolution in bottle. 13,500 bottles produced.
