Leading with garden mint, dark chocolate and blackcurrant, the 2019 The Blend is a mouthfilling, spicy, elegant wine. It finishes with cloves and licorice, but the fruit on the mid-palate is concentrated, good and lovely. Not hugely complex, but it's so varietal and spicy that it doesn't matter a jot. This was tasted blind as part of the "Value for Money" tasting in September 2023. RRP $19 AUD.

The 2018 The Blend is composed of 56% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot and is defined by a minty, purple nose. There are notes of cassis, blackberry, garden mint, spearmint and soft licorice. It is leafy, spicy and slightly dusty. It's a touch metallic through the finish, which is only emphasized by the blue fruits and mint.

Shows off a note of eucalyptus up front, giving way to a mix of plum, ripe blackberry, tar and tobacco leaf. Balanced and velvety on the finish. Predominantly Merlot (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (33%), with bits of Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (2%), Balnaves' 2015 The Blend is a full-bodied, rich, ripe, almost lusty red. Subtle notes of menthol and oak spice mark the nose, while the palate is open yet structured and firm, with a juicy, mouthwatering finish of cassis, cinnamon and clove.
