The 2021 Sotorrondero from this vintage was produced exclusively with Garnacha from the village of El Real de San Vicente. It's quite dark and has a medium to full-bodied palate with abundant tannins. It feels too young and in need of some more time in bottle. It has 14.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.45, and it feels a little ripe. It matured in used 500-liter barrels for 10 months, followed by a couple of months in concrete before it was bottled. 3,800 bottles were filled in February 2023.

The 2019 Sotorrondero mixes Garnacha from Gredos (Real de San Vicente) and 15% Syrah from Méntrida and is round, juicy, ripe and fresh with clean aromas and flavors of wild berries and herbs and very fine and slightly dusty, chalky tannins. Very pleasant, with a soft mouthfeel and a clean, focused finish with a smoky bacon note. It fermented with full clusters and matured in oak containers of different sizes for one year. 10,986 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2021.

The 2015 Sotorrondero is a blend of Garnacha with 30% Syrah from Méntrida aged in a mixture of 500-liter barrels and 1,500- and 3,000-liter oak foudres for ten months. It's clean, floral and expressive, with notes of violets and red berries. The profile is more of the Garnacha, with little influence from the Syrah. The palate shows ripe fruit, but it's fluid, with granite minerality and a supple finish. 20,760 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2016.

The Syrah is more noticeable in the 2014 Sotorrondero, as it contains some 30% of the Rh?ne grape to complement the Garnacha. Here 50% of full clusters were used in the fermentation, and the upbringing was extended to ten months and was carried out in a mixture of 500-liter barrels and 1,500- and 3,000-liter foudres, all of them made with French oak. It comes through as quite balanced, nicely balsamic with some developed aromas mixing smoked meats, forest floor, and a nice core of bright berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with some austerity from the granite soils and fine tannins. It has some sesame seed-like flavors and a tasty finish. Nicely balanced and poised. 15,000 bottles produced.

The 2012 Sotorrondero, a blend of Garnacha and Syrah outside the boundaries of Gredos aged in barrels for ten months is young, open and aromatic, like its big brother, the Jimenez-Landi Bajondillo. In this wine the two grapes are well assembled showing a clean and complex nose of raspberry and strawberry aromas, hints of spices, smoke and a meatiness from the Syrah. The palate is medium-bodied with great balance, polished tannins and fine acidity sharpening the focus of the flavors through the supple and tasty finish with great length. This is a good showing for Sotorrondero. 12,000 bottles produced.
