The 2011 Sinfo Roble comes from three vineyards in Mucientes, the average of vines 60 years old (and for just a Roble!!). It has an attractive bouquet of dark plum, date and black cherries that has a citric freshness. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins. It is an uncomplicated Roble, as one would expect, but it offers plenty of sappy black cherry and raspberry fruit with decent structure on the finish. Drink now-2014. Sinforiano’s entry-level wine, the 2009 Sinfo Tinto Roble was sourced from 40-year-old Tempranillo bush vines and aged for 4 months in French and American oak. Inviting notes of Asian spices, incense, violets, and blackberry inform the nose of this ripe, layered, savory red. Nicely proportioned and lengthy, this very good value can be approached now and will drink well for another 5 years. It is another fine example of what could be attained in the superb 2009 vintage.
