The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape, sourced from the lieux-dits of Coudoulet and Chapouin, features expressive scents of garrigue and cherries, unencumbered by oak. It's medium to full-bodied, silky and complex, with hints of lavender, bay leaf and sage imparting savory complexity to the red-fruited flavors. Reminiscent of the stellar 2016, it's not the most concentrated or dense wine, but shows the more important qualities of balance and elegance.

Loaded with notes of ground clove and cracked pepper, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape isn't the most intense or concentrated wine this vintage, but it is full-bodied, charming and silky, with plenty of mixed red and black cherries to provide easy drinking over the next 7-8 years.

In contrast to the 2015's dark fruit and firm tannins, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape features lacy notes of raspberry and cherry, tinged with peppery herbs. It's full-bodied and creamy, with green peppercorn flavors popping up on the long, silky finish. It's approachable now, but it should drink well through 2030.

Berthet-Rayne's 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape stood out in my blind tasting for its firm tannic structure and peppery spice. The full-bodied wine has the ripe black cherries to stand up to the tannins, finishing long and dusty.

The 2014 Chateauneuf du Pape is a medium-bodied, mid-weight and savory effort that has solid Proven?al charm in its spice, Proven?al garrigue and leather aromas and flavors. Made from 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and the rest Cinsault and Syrah, it has a touch of under-ripe tannin, but should be a good effort.
