Bottled just two weeks before my visit, the 2020 Saint Joseph le Paradis Saint Pierre Blanc is a barrel-fermented blend of 90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne that sees about 15% to 20% new wood, resulting in wonderfully integrated oak and ripe fruit notes. Hints of toast join ripe pineapple, white peach, pear and melon flavors. The texture is silky from start to finish, and the finish itself is mouthwatering, long and nuanced. This has to be one of the top white St-Jo's out there. While delicious now, you might take a chance and put some away for up to a decade. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.

The final blend of the 2018 Saint Joseph le Paradis Saint Pierre Blanc, tasted from tank prior to bottling, features toasty, bread-like aromas set against a backdrop of melon and pineapple. It's 90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne, with 20% new oak in the mix. The wine is full-bodied, broad in the mouth but with the depth and richness for balance, and it has a lingering, textural finish. Bottled a week before my visit, the 2017 Saint Joseph le Paradis Saint Pierre Blanc seemed to be showing no ill effects, as it burst with scents of toast, tangerine and pineapple. This full-bodied blend of 90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne spent a year in barriques, leaving it rich and textured on the palate yet fresh, balanced and long on the finish. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

The barrel-fermented and matured 2016 Saint Joseph le Paradis Saint Pierre Blanc is full-bodied, but that honey and pineapple weight is balanced by citrus and brine notes on a long finish. It’s 90% Marsanne, 10% Roussanne.

Starting with the flagship white, the roughly 300-case 2015 Saint Joseph Le Paradis Saint Pierre Blanc checks in as a blend of 90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne, all from the Paradis lieu-dit located just outside of the village of Mauves, that spent 12 months in barrel. It has a tropical edge to its white peach, tangerine and caramelized pineapple aromas and flavors, and this gives way to a medium-bodied, fresh, clean and lengthy style on the palate. Give bottles a year and enjoy over the following decade.
