The limited production (4,000 bottle) cuvee of 2001 Cotes du Ventoux Cuvee Dements is 100% Grenache, two-thirds tank-aged and one-third aged in demi-muids (500 liter barrels). It can compete with a top Chateauneuf du Pape. Boasting superb richness as well as fabulously sweet kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with roasted herbs, pepper, and blackberries, this is a layered, voluptuously-textured effort with great freshness and density. Available for a song, it is well-worth buying by the trunkful. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. I can’t say enough about the efforts being made by proprietor Sebastien Vincenti.Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083
