The 2018 Bienvenue-Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru reveals notes of citrus oil, white flowers, Anjou pear and blanched almonds. On the palate, it's more textural and enveloping than the Batard, with a satiny attack that segues into an ample and expansive core.

The 2016 Bienvenue-Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru was quite reduced on the nose. The palate is nicely balanced with good concentration, quite nutty and Meursault-like in style and sporting appreciable salinité toward the finish that fans out. Good potential, but give this a couple of years in bottle. I will remain cautious with my score for now.

The 2015 Bienvenus-Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a crisp, citrus peel bouquet with slight gravelly scents coming through with time. The palate is crisp again on the entry, nicely balanced but it needs to show more mineralité on the finish, which feels a little ordinary against others this year.

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a very succinct and precise bouquet, the oak neatly integrated, elegant and understated in style but still quite penetrating. The palate is fresh and vibrant, lime and citrus fruit on the entry and the acidity nicely judged. There is a touch of peachiness towards the finish but it remains a very seductive Batard-Montrachet that should age with style. Tasted May 2016.
