Tasted at the 60th anniversary tasting at Domaine d’Auvenay. The 1955 Beaune 1er Cru Les Cent Vignes has a quite glorious bouquet: fresh rose petals, light red cherries and a touch of vine tomato. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, a little sharpness in the mouth, ferrous with a focused finish. It does not have the persistence of a top cru, but it still represents delightful mature Pinot Noir, one that actually improved slightly in the glass.
