Attractive aromas of cherries, red plums and citrus peel with hints of tea leaf, cardamom, chocolate, bark and moist forest floor. The Arione site usually shows extra muscle and power, and that's exactly what you get here. The Enzo Boglietti 2018 Barolo Arione is very polished and firm with a pretty succession of aromas that include redcurrant, dried spice, licorice and dried apricot or sweet orange.

With fruit from Serralunga d'Alba and its denser calcareous clay soils, the Enzo Boglietti 2017 Barolo Arione stands out sharply in this group of wines all made with softer fruit La Morra. This wine sports a dark ruby or garnet hue to its appearance, although the wine's concentration remains noticeable glossy and translucent nonetheless. The wine's structure and tannins are apparent, and the bouquet shows dark fruit, Amarena cherries, spice and cedar. The mineral notes are sanguine and rusty. Production is 3,000 bottles.

Ripe fruit aromas and flavors of kirsch and black currant mark this fruity version. Earth, eucalyptus and tar notes are interwoven as this red flexes its tannic clout on the finish. In classic Serralunga fashion, there are abundant tannins, yet they are refined and tightly stitched. The Enzo Boglietti 2016 Barolo Arione draws its fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, from a vineyard site that has gained much attention in recent years. Arione has thick silty soils and these contribute to the gentle finesse and floral perfumes of the wine. Don't forget power. There is plenty of muscle flexing in this brawny, determined Nebbiolo with firm tannins and deep structure. A mere 2,000 bottles were produced. Count on this wine to complete a long and rewarding drinking arc.
