Showing a step up in intensity and fullness compared to the base Barbera from Borgogno, the 2016 Barbera d’Alba Superiore offers a beautiful medley of black fruit, spice, leather and sweet tobacco. The wine is distinguished by a softer and more textured mouthfeel that is ripe with generous doses of primary fruit. You get that characteristic Barbera freshness on the close.

The 2015 Barbera d’Alba Superiore sees fruit sourced from the lower parts of the Cannubi and Liste vineyards. These sites are so celebrated for the outstanding quality of their Nebbiolo, they are rarely (if ever) planted to Barbera. This is a rare wine in this regard. Of course, the Barbera vines are planted in the less fortunate spots. This is a tight and streamlined expression with a bright load of dark fruit intensity on the bouquet. The finish shows a clean tannic structure and fresh acidity. It is aged in cement and botte grande.
