The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon was released to eye-watering reviews—how could anyone forget—and so it is with great interest and anticipation that I look in on this wine today, some eight years after harvest and perhaps five years from release. On the nose, there are the typical dark/milk chocolate characters that this wine has shown over the years, backed by dark forest fruits and exotic spice. The wine is a product of the season, which was an interesting one and hard to characterize: cool at times and wet at times (although the white harvest began very early, as January was warm). The Cabernets to me have felt somewhat backward generally—not all, of course—and I can never decide whether these wines should be consumed in their youth or far later down the track. This wine gives me no further clarity on that point. This is a lovely wine, with plenty of time left, but it's also drinking nicely now. A quiet wine. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
