The 2008 Pieza el Caldero is composed of 96% Aragon and 4% Garnacha Roja over 70 years of age. It was aged for 12 months in American oak before bottling without filtration. A bit less exuberant than the Pieza el Coll (but also a bit more complex), it offers up greater density and structure along with plenty of ripe, succulent fruit. It is likely to evolve for 1-2 years and will provide much pleasure through 2018. Majuelos de Espana, headed by Felipe Alvarez, is a negociant group whose grape growers and winemakers are devoted to recovering old Majuelos (Vineyards) across Spain. Majuelos de Espana’s offerings from Ribera del Duero are all barrel samples of 100% Tinta Fine (Tempranillo) from the great 2009 vintage.Importer: Felipe Alvarez, Majuelos de Espana, www.majuelos.com
