Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard has loads of aromas, with lush cranberry and blackberry fruits accented by touches of aniseed, bay leaves, dried flowers and cola. The medium-bodied palate offers a grainy, fresh frame packed with flavor layers, and it finishes very long. 348 cases were made.

Pale to medium ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard opens with savory aromas of charcuterie, tree bark and underbrush with pomegranate, cranberry, Earl Grey tea leaves and a spicy vein. The light to medium bodied-palate is quietly intense, with delicate, pure fruit flavors supported by soft, grainy tannins and integrated freshness, finishing long and earthy. 628 cases produced.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard offers up an expressive bouquet of raspberries, orange rind, baking spice and coniferous forest floor. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, supple and open-knit, with lots of earthy, spicy fruit and melting tannins. It's a very pretty wine, but I found myself wanting more intensity and cut. Perhaps I just drink too much Burgundy.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard is always mostly destemmed and it spent 15 months in 25% new French oak. It shows the classic, masculine character of the site in its pepper, crushed rock, black cherry, smoke and forest floor aromas and flavors. This beauty hits the palate with surprising elegance and purity. Fresh, medium-bodied, lightly textured and silky, it's another outstanding Pinot Noir that will see its 10th birthday in fine form.

More classic in style than the Clone 22, the 2013 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard has lots of black raspberry, flowers and crushed-rock nuances as well as a full, layered, beautifully textured feel on the palate. I normally find something masculine and mineral-laced from this vineyard, but this 2013 is all polish and elegance, with rocking purity of fruit. I'd drink it over the coming 4-5 years, but I suspect it will still be delicious at age 10 as well.
