Viberti’s 2007 Barolo sweeps across the palate with layers of expressive red fruit, crushed flowers and spices. This is a touch forward but hugely enjoyable just the same. The 2006 Barolo is a beautiful wine that captures the essence of Santa Maria, one of the subdivisions of La Morra. This deceptively mid-weight, graceful Barolo flows with dark red cherries, new leather, baking spices and tar. With time in the glass, the wine gains considerable depth and richness, filling out its frame with considerable elegance. This is a truly beguiling, contemplative wine that delivers all of the shades of nuance, complexity and class that contribute to make Barolo one of the world’s great wines.
