Rizzi's 2022 Dolcetto d'Alba is a super fun and cheerful red wine with a punchy bouquet that recalls cherry, blueberry, bitter almond and a hint of sweet fruit like an apricot or peach. Dolcetto is such an agreeable grape (for pasta or pizza dinners). When vinified in a simple and hands-off manner like this (in stainless steel only), it hits the spot. Dolcetto grapes are planted at the lower parts of the Rizzi cru and in other spots around the town of Treiso. Only 4,900 bottles were made.

Here's a fun wine for take-out pizza night. The Rizzi 2020 Dolcetto d'Alba is packed tight with all sorts of bold cherry aromas ranging from wild cherry to candied cherry. In this sense, the wine is extremely true to this versatile and much-loved local variety.

One of the first red wines of the vintage to hit the market, the Rizzi 2019 Dolcetto d'Alba is all about bright primary fruit. This wine offers a fresh and pleasing profile with bitter plum and sour cherry, backed by blanched almond and a touch of sweet cinnamon. The results are balanced, tonic and linear. This wine enthusiastically embraces the themes of simplicity and authenticity. Pair it with a heaping plate of pasta with fresh tomato sauce and grated cheese. Some 5,600 bottles were rolled out.

The Rizzi 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba offers aromas from a cooler vintage with some wild strawberry and a hint of red apple or plum. The bouquet is both tangy and raw, probably because the Dolcetto grape tends to prefer the warmer years. You can almost taste the grape skins here with a touch of bitterness in tow. It is tight and edgy with a thin feel in the mouth. I'd suggest pairing it with a simple cheese and Italian charcuterie platter. About 5,000 bottles were made.

There is a lot of sunshine locked deep within the 2017 Dolcetto d'Alba. The wine offers bright and succulent purple fruit and good intensity, with smoke, tobacco and some plummy notes as well.
