The 2022 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz hails from Barossa and a wonderful season in 2022. This is concentrated and earthy but fresh, too, and the tannins that shape the fruit have a rose petal delicacy to them. This is really good, a giving wine—generous and satisfying. 14.2% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

This 2021 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz is aptly named, and shows the earthy side of the Barossa in the glass. The 2021 season was cool, and a welcome reprieve from the low-yielding, warm couple of vintages that preceded it. As such, this wine is a little slower to emerge from its shell and will really benefit from a further year in bottle. Smart, though.

As always, sourced from the Barossa Valley, the 2019 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz features darker fruit tones than the McLaren Vale-based Angel's Share. Blackberries and hints of black olive mark the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is lined with supple tannins and brambly spice nuances, leading into a softly dusty finish.

Lovely mixed berry notes appear on the nose of the 2018 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz. It's a prototypical Barossa Shiraz made with modern sensibilities, marrying subtle hints of French oak with bold fruit. Hints of mint and licorice add interest, while the full-bodied palate is ripe and creamy without going over the top.

The red-fruited 2017 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz is a medium to full-bodied wine with plenty of bright acids and easy drinkability. Raspberries and red currants are balanced by hints of grilled meat, which impart a savory edge. Tannins are light and silky, making this a wine to drink now and over the next few years.
