Vins Sin-Ley’s 2009 GRA 2 is 100% Graciano fermented and raised in stainless steel. Graciano is making a comeback in Rioja but is rarely seen bottled on its own. This version is a glass-coating opaque purple color with an impressive perfume of scorched earth, Asian spices, incense, and blackberry. The 2008 GRA 2 is 100% Graciano from Rioja-Baja. Like all of the wines in the Sin-Ley series, it was fermented and aged in stainless steel. The nose offers spice box, black cherry, and mineral, what the importer describes as “l(fā)iquid graphite”. Spicy on the palate with enough structure to evolve for two years, this tasty effort can be enjoyed through 2014.
