The 2021 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese ** intermingles (overly) ripe and concentrated fruit aromas with herbal and fresh mushroom notes straight from the forest. Lush and playful on the palate, this is a rich yet refined and elegant Auslese with crystalline, savory and saline acidity and dense, finely textured fruit. This 2021 is a very digestible Auslese from the ZSU, and its finish is already very stimulating. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in October 2022.

From the lower part of the cru and based on botrytized grapes, the 2020 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese opens with a ripe and candied, slightly caramelly bouquet of clear and flinty Riesling aromas intermingled with the finely weathered blue slate aromas of the ZSU. On the palate, this is a lush and piquant, dense and intense yet also delicate and stimulating Auslese with yellow plum and peach aromas, fine grip and salinity from crushed blue slate. Highly stimulating and perfectly round. 8.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022.
