The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Lago shows warm aromas of dark cherry and plum. The wine presents a broad and rich texture, but it lacks the depth and fruit clarity that we might expect in cooler conditions. It has very accessible fruit with an open texture that is best suited to near-term drinking. Fruit is sourced from a lower and presumably warmer site at 280 meters above sea level. Some 10,000 bottles were made.

A serious Brunello showing excellent depth of savoriness, cranberries, minerals, dried orange peel and a hint of currant. Tense and transparent on the mid-palate, showing good weight and verticality with bright acidity and dusty tannins. Drink or hold.

Lithe and succulent, offering cherry, plum, sage and leather flavors. Light-bodied and vibrant, with refined tannins lining the finish. Shows excellent balance and length. Best from 2024 through 2039. 1,080 cases made, 300 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Brunello di Montalcino Select to Add
