Three years after starting his domaine, Mikulski hit a home run with his spectacular 1995 Meursault Genevrieres. Produced from 30-40 year old vines, this golden straw-colored offering reveals pears, hazelnut cream and roasted wood scents as well as a full-bodied, massive, thick, oily-textured, and overripe (yet well-balanced!) character packed with sweet pear, toasted nut and floral flavors. Spicy oak flavors are apparent in its admirably long finish even though no new oak was used (only first and second year barrels). Robert Kacher, this estate's importer, summed it up well when he said that it was like "syrup of Meursault." Anticipated maturity: now-2003.
