The dense ruby/purple-colored 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape tastes accessible with its display of flashy black-cherry fruit and spice. Full-bodied, rich, and intense, with zesty acidity and moderate tannin, this wine has not yet begun to exhibit the aromatic components displayed by the 1994. Rarely do I have an opportunity to taste the wines of Raymond Usseglio, but I admire this producer, who sells much of his production to private clients and merchants in western Europe. Anticipated maturity: 1999-2009. Last tasted 6/96.
