Jaboulet now produces two cuvees of Cornas. In 1993 they purchased a tiny 7.5 acre parcel of old vines on the Cornas hillside. The wine produced is called the Domaine de St.-Pierre. In addition to that wine, there is the negociant cuvee of Cornas. The 1995 Cornas Domaine de St.-Pierre is superb. It offers an opaque purple color, huge body and extract, and monstrous tannin in the powerful finish. This is a Cornas to put away for 7-10 years and drink during the first 10-15 years of the next century. After declassifying most of their top cuvees in 1993 and producing 1994s that were sound, but generally uninspiring (several wines that have been re-reviewed in the following text are showing better), this hallowed firm just south of the village of Tain l'Hermitage has produced very high quality 1995s. That's good news for the many fans of Paul Jaboulet-Aine.
