The superb 1999 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard (576 cases produced) was aged in 60% new French oak and bottled, like all these Pinot Noirs, without filtration. The color is a dense ruby/purple. The wine offers up sumptuous quantities of black raspberry , blackberry, and cherry fruit, smoky, toasty oak, and black and Chinese tea in the background. The palate is voluptuous, thick, very pure, rich, and medium to full-bodied. Some meatiness is even apparent as this wine sits in the glass. This is a terrific Pinot Noir that can be drunk now or aged for 7-8 years.
