Coming from vines planted in 1973 and 1999, the 2011 Puritan Shiraz spent no time in oak and was bottled without any sulfur dioxide additions. Deep garnet-purple colored, this wine had a slight whiff of rubbery reduction when it was first opened, though this soon blew off, opening out to aromas of dark plums, black cherries and some black pepper. The medium-bodied palate offers a good backbone of refreshing acid and a medium level of velvety tannins, finishing long. Drinking now, it should remain fresh to 2015.
Battle of Bosworth produces wines from organically grown (Australian certified) vines.
