The 2007 The Love Grass Shiraz is 85% Shiraz blended with tiny proportions of six other varieties. Purple-colored, it reveals aromas of spice box, violets, blueberry, and game. Quite structured on the palate, it is not as open and up-front as recent vintages. A bit lean and sinewy, it should be consumed near term while the fruit balances the wine’s frame. The d’Arenberg portfolio is loaded with values. The winery works with over 140 growers to fashion their superb blends. This is 85% Shiraz, with the balance being Petit Verdot, Viognier, Tinta Cao, Grenache, Tempranillo and Mourvedre. The result is a pleasant, slightly woody wine, with blackberry, cola and cedar aromas and flavors.
