The dark ruby-colored 1989 Cuvee Florence exhibits toasty, spicy, new oak in its nose, but there are also intense smells of herb-scented cassis and overripe plums. This medium-bodied, voluptuously textured, opulent wine displays soft tannin, a nice touch of vanillin and smoky new oak, as well as a long finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2000. Last tasted 6/95.
