The 2000 Cabernet 80% - Syrah 20% Vin de Pays d'Oc looks, smells, and tastes like a St.-Estephe at one-fifth the price. This outstanding wine bursts from the glass with black fruit and roasted oak aromas. This ample, medium-bodied, satin-textured, blackberry and cassis-packed offering is thick, broad, and dense. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2009.
Robert Kacher, this estate's importer and the person responsible, has instituted a new policy for his reds from the South of France. None of them contain any press wine (the more tannic liquid produced from the actual pressing of the grapes), only free run juice. The results are wonderfully lush, aromatic offerings.
Note: This is a special cuvee produced exclusively for the United States market with the assistance of the estate's American importer.
