From one of the best performing sites for Nebbiolo in the greater Langhe, the single-vineyard Giacomo Grimaldi 2019 Nebbiolo d'Alba Vigna Valmaggiore shows light fruit texture and a pretty ruby appearance. The wine's aromas recall earth, dried fruit and toasted hazelnut. There is a dusty quality to the tannins, although there is no astringency, and the wine is very accessible and lean overall. This release of about 11,000 bottles would be nice with a thinly sliced pork roast and a root-vegetable purée.
