The 2009 Roero Arneis is beautiful for its pure, crystalline white stone fruits, minerals and flowers, all of which meld together in a focused expression of this indigenous Piedmontese grape. Correggia’s Arneis typically tends towards intense minerality, and while that quality is present here as well, the 2009 has an extra dimension of richness that is quite striking. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013.
This is a lovely set of entry-level wines from Matteo Correggia. Roero remains an excellent source for wines that generally remain under the radar and well priced relative to Barolo and Barbaresco.
