A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2003 Padrone is one of the estate’s finest efforts. Still a young, bruising blockbuster, it exhibits an opaque plum/purple color along with hints of blackberries, licorice, camphor, smoke and graphite. Full-bodied and powerful with velvety, but significant tannins, this is a mouthfilling, teeth-staining wine that is extremely well-balanced for its weight and power. The finished alcohol is 14.2%. This youthful 2003 should continue to evolve over the next 5-10 years and last three decades thereafter.
A sensational effort from Ray Signorello, this luxury cuvée is dedicated to Ray’s father, thus the name.
