Showing the finesse driven style of the estate, the 2009 Frederick checks in as a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and a splash of Malbec that spent 21 months in 65% new French oak. Slightly lifted on the nose, with plenty of briary berry fruit, violets, new saddle leather and hints of licorice, it flows onto the palate with a voluptuous, yet classy and focused texture that carries sweet, persistent tannin through the finish. In need of another year or so to round into form, it will have a solid 10-12 years of longevity. Drink 2014-2021.
Located in the northern part of the Walla Walla Valley and producing wines completely from their estate vineyard, Spring Valley Vineyard falls under the Ste. Michelle umbrella and the wines are made by Serge Laville. Featuring polished, elegant profiles that have solid richness, these wines will all have long drink windows.
