The 2014 Chablis 1Er Cru Montmains felt rather simplistic on the nose following the 2014 Les Vaillons Vielles Vignes. Despite coaxing, it was difficult to eke out Montmains character from this sample. The palate is well balanced, demonstrating more weight and a little more viscosity than the Les Vaillons, a crowd-pleaser for sure, though I am not convinced it is Laroche's best Premier Cru in 2014. It just lacks a little intellect at the moment.
