The 2006 Gran Reserva has been in bottle since 2009 and has had time to acquire the nuances of the bottle-aged aromas transporting you to the Riojas of yesteryear: A combination of cherries in liqueur with spices, touches of leather and a creamy feeling with the twist of the American oak on the nose. The palate is silky, with fully-resolved tannins, very polished and sleek, with flavors of cherries on the quite long ending. This was a ripe vintage, but the wine seems to have aged quite well in a very traditional way. Very approachable Gran Reserva. 22,000 bottles.
