The 2007 Barolo Monvigliero shows excellent up-front intensity in a forward, juicy style. This needs time in the glass for some of the rough edges to soften, but it is a pretty wine laced with attractive, floral and spice notes. The finish shows plenty of breadth and volume once the wine opens up. Ideally, a little more vineyard character might be nice, but this is a year in which the vintage marked many wines to a significant degree. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
