The 2008 Chianti Colli Fiorentini Riserva Vigna La Quercia comes across as dark, powerful and gamey. The animalistic side of Sangiovese is very much on display in this powerful Chianti. Plums, leather and licorice add complexity on the finish, but this is ultimately a pretty rustic wine. La Quercia is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in used French oak barrels.
