Argiano’s 2010 Suolo, a selection of the estate’s best Sangiovese, is striking. Juicy red cherries, freshly cut flowers and mint are woven together with impeccable precision and clarity. Finely sculpted and gorgeous, the 2010 impresses for its overall balance and class. This is a great example of Montalcino Sangiovese in a top-notch year. The firm tannins will require a measure of patience, but there is little doubt the 2010 is an utterly captivating, thrilling bottle of wine. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2030.
Argiano was recently sold to a group of Brazilian investors. I am curious to see how things develop, as this is one of the most highly regarded properties in Montalcino in terms of its potential.
