The 2008 Suolo graces the palate with layers of dark red fruit, sweet spices and vanilla. The 2008 is a texturally beautiful Suolo, with finessed tannins and terrific length. My only concern is the level of French oak, which seems a bit pronounced for the wine’s structure, at least at this stage. Sweet flowers, berries and mint linger on the impeccable finish. Argiano’s Suolo is 100% Sangiovese Grosso that spent 18 months in French oak. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2028.
