The 1995 Merlot Seven Hills Vineyard is medium-to-dark ruby-colored and has dense aromas of sweet blackberries and cherries. This extremely well-made wine (Casey McClellan is the winemaker) is chewy, thick, medium-to-full-bodied, and offers loads of intense and ripe red and black fruits. It is a concentrated, velvety, and long finishing beauty. Drink it over the next 6 years.
Owned by the Hendricks and McClellan families, the winery takes its name from one of the finest vineyards in Walla Walla. The Seven Hills vineyard (I spent considerable time walking this site and was unable to find the seven hills) is, ironically, primarily located in Oregon (yes, Washington State's most famous wine, Leonetti's Seven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon, is produced from Oregon grapes!).
