The 2010 Beaune (from tank) is pretty and delicate. Dried red cherries, mint, tobacco and licorice flow from this soft, perfumed Burgundy. There is a fleeting, ethereal quality to the Beaune that suggests it should be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.
Domaine des Croix is just around the corner from Camille Giroud, where winemaker David Croix is also in charge. The Domaine des Croix wines are typically made in a forward, fruit-driven style. Although the wines can age, my preference is to drink them on the young side. In 2010, yields came in around 20-25 hectoliters, very low by any measure. I tasted most of the 2010s from barrel, except as noted.
