The 2005 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso offers smoke, earthiness, dark cherries and tobacco with good length and an attractive, soft texture. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2010. Speri is a small, family-owned estate with vineyards in the historical part of the Valpolicella zone. Stylistically the Amarones are made in a somewhat austere style.
