Tasted blind in Bordeaux, the 1966 Nenin puts in a respectable showing for this vintage, which is towards the end of a largely forgotten, not so much golden, but let's call it "silver" era for the estate. It has a broody, tarry nose with scents of Thai fish oil and licorice. Rustic for sure, but enjoyable. The palate is medium-bodied and lightly spiced on the entry. This demonstrates good backbone after 50 years and it has a Rh?ne-like gaminess towards the finish. It does fade in the glass, but overall this was a decent showing from this Pomerol. Tasted April 2016.
