The 2000 Chardonnay River Block (14.2% alcohol) displays a greenish hue to its light straw color, along with aromas of minerals, hazelnuts, smoke, peaches, and tropical fruit. There is adequate underlying acidity to support the wine's weight and richness. It is a beautifully pure, well-knit, more restrained, less exuberant and powerful example than the 1999s or 1998s.
