Rochioli’s 2011 Chardonnay River Block is impressive. Subtle and understated in this vintage, the 2011 is classy from start to finish. Bright citrus and white orchard fruit lead to sweet floral notes in this delineated, energetic Chardonnay. Although the 2011 is a bit laid back relative to recent vintages, there is a lot to like. This is a gorgeous wine from Tom Rochioli. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. Tom Rochioli describes 2011 as a cold vintage with lower ripeness and alcohol levels than the norm. Considering these are usually fairly rich, bold wines (the style Rochioli prefers), the combination of a cooler year and the inherent depth that is the house signature is particularly appealing. Tel.
